The CE Shop is an approved school in New York.

School Code/Approval Number: New York issues individual course approval numbers listed next to each course.
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be either a citizen or a legal permanent resident of the United States (will need to submit proof to the state)
  • No person shall receive a license if they have ever been convicted of a felony (however, this rule may be waived in certain circumstances-check with the state.)

Final Exam:

  • Must successfully complete the education requirement of 75 hours of qualifying real estate course (listed in catalog) and pass the proctored final exam (70% passing score) for the course. 
    • The New York Department of State requires that all New York real estate online course final exams be taken in the presence of a proctor. The final exam is taken after the completion of the course material and is a paper exam.

Seat Time:

  • They also mandate that all online real estate licensing education students spend a required amount of time in the course.  You will only be able to access the final section once you have fulfilled this required time, which you will be able to track on the Main Menu page.  You must have accessed the final section in order for the course to be considered complete.

  • Those salesperson applicants who completed the 45 hour New York salesperson qualifying course prior to July 1, 2008 may complete the 30 hour New York Remedial Qualifying Course (also listed in catalog above) to satisfy the 75 hour requirement.

State licensing information:

  • Once you have completed the course, submit a completed application and appropriate fees with The Department of State
    • All applicants for a real estate license must submit a Child Support Statement, whether they have children or not, or any support obligation. If anyone is 4 or more months in arrears in child support their license may be suspended.
  • Must pass the New York real estate examination-You must contact eAccessNY directly to schedule your licensing examination. You may access EAccessNY at http://www.dos.state.ny.us/licensing/eaccessny.html for further information.
    • May be taken either before or after completion of the 75 hour qualifying course, but license will not be obtained until both course and state exam are completed and passed. 
      • The state exam is comprised of 75 questions
      • 1 1/2 hours allotted
      • Pass with at least a 70%
      • Cost of exam - $15 payable at time of scheduling exam (the state exam and fees are not included in the package you are purchasing through The CE Shop and are subject to change)
  • Must have a sponsoring broker before obtaining the license
  • Once you have passed the New York state exam you must apply for licensure.

Additional instructions for the state application can be obtained at http://www.dos.state.ny.us/licensing/instructions/0022INS.html. Please know that your passing results on this exam are only good for 2 years. Please refer to your license application as to whether or not you need to provide your certificate of completion with your application to the state.

Certificates: Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five (5) years, should you need additional copies at a later time.  Licensees are encouraged to retain copies of their Certificates of Completion in the event that they are audited by the state.  Important: the copy of the certificate you will have in your account is a copy for students' reference only! The NY DOS does require students to send in an original certificate with an original signature and raised seal with their application. The CE Shop will mail these certificates to the address provided in the students' account the business day after the exam has been graded and successfully passed. DO NOT send in the copy of the certificate that is provided online, as the NY DOS will reject the application.

Remedial Qualifying Course 30 Hours

This course is intended for students who have already completed the 45 hours of salesperson education and need an additional 30 hours of study to meet the new prelicensing requirement for salespeople for a total of 75 hours.

If you are a broker and only completed 45 hours to get licensed as a salesperson in the past, then you will also need to take this course in addition to the broker 45 hour qualifying course (upstate or downstate version) for a total of 120 hours.

Sales 75 Hour Qualifying Course
